American Mahjong 101 and Open Play at Meraki

Those that have been asking for a Sunday 101, here it is! Sunday November 1 we will have a 101 lesson and open play tables.

American Mahjong 101 (for complete beginners)

Have you been wanting to learn what all the hype is about? Here's your chance! This lesson is perfect for the absolute beginner. Whether you've never touched a tile or just need a refresher, this table is for you.

You will receive instruction/guidance on:

• Tile identification
• Basic rules, hands, and game structure
• Guided gameplay so you can put your new skills to practice right away

No experience needed - just show up (but it's better with a friend)!

Open Play

Experienced players—your tables are here! Grab a glass of wine, bring a friend, and settle in for an afternoon of playing mahjong.

Scramble games welcome! Get your table together and get those points!

For all tables: Tiles, racks, and mats will be provided.

Bring your 2026 NMJL card if you have one. If not, no worries—we'll have cards available to borrow or on sale at the event.

Whether you're learning your first hand or meeting friends for a relaxing evening of mahjong, we'd love to have you join us!
