ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Dr. Emily Splichal

Dr. Emily Splichal is a functional podiatrist whose philosophy centers on reconnecting people to their foundation — their feet. She emphasizes that modern lifestyles, cushioned footwear, and disconnected movement patterns have contributed to chronic pain, instability, and even emotional imbalance. Her method, Grip the Ground, uses barefoot movement, sensory stimulation, and postural training to restore strength, stability, and energy from the ground up.

Originally trained as a surgeon at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and Mt. Vernon Hospital, she made a transformative career shift in 2017, moving away from surgical practice toward functional and regenerative medicine. Today, her expertise lies at the intersection of sensory science, neuromuscular activation, and human movement.

Beyond her medical practice, Dr. Splichal embodies her teachings. As a competitive ballroom dancer, global educator, and former fitness professional, she lives the principles she advocates — showing that movement is not just a prescription but a way of life. Her approach highlights that sensory-rich, intentional movement is key not only to physical health but also to emotional resilience, vitality, and longevity.

Her Grip the Ground philosophy is more than a technique; it’s a mindset that empowers individuals to reclaim presence, purpose, and strength in how they move through life. She works with those experiencing chronic pain, fatigue, or instability, guiding them to reconnect with their foundation and rise with renewed energy.
