Celebrate the launch of Golden Goal magazine and the first day of the World Cup!

Golden Goal is a literary magazine about the 2026 World Cup and the opposing realities of global soccer: FIFA’s subservience to money, power and the gilded vanities of Donald Trump on one side and, on the other, a popular love for the magic and beauty of the sport.

Our print issue includes dispatches from countries including Uzbekistan, Ecuador, Haiti, Morocco, and Argentina, along with essays on World Cup countries that no longer exist, autocrats in football, the politics of trophy celebrations and players from Vini Jr. and Christian Pulisic to Mohamed Salah and Luka Modrić.

To celebrate the publication of our print issue, we're hosting a launch party in the backyard of Threes Brewing on the first day of the tournament. The evening will include readings from our contributors on subjects including Haitian strikers (Dimitry Elias Léger), the vintage jersey resale market (Isabel Cristo), the patron saint of football failures (Zito Madu) and autocrats in football (Aaron Timms), and will be followed by a watch party of the South Korea v. Czechia match at 10pm.
