Say It Louder: Juneteenth & Pride Open Mic and Art Gathering

A community centered Juneteenth and Pride Month event in Brooklyn for Black creatives, LGBTQ community members, artists, and neighbors.

Join us on June 20 at 3 PM at Saint James Libations in Bushwick for an afternoon of live music, poetry, storytelling, conversation, and community. We’re gathering during Juneteenth week and Pride Month to celebrate creativity, culture, and the simple act of being together.

If you’re a Black creative, an artist, musician, writer, performer, LGBTQ community member, or someone who just wants to be in a room where people are open to meeting each other, you’re welcome here.

A lot of people come alone, and it’s completely normal. Some perform. Some listen. Some end up talking with strangers for hours. At the last gathering, people left with new friends, collaborators, dates, group chats, summer plans, and a reminder that community in New York is still very real.

There’s no pressure to perform or network or be anything other than yourself. It’s simply good music, good conversation, food, wine, and a room full of people showing up with open minds and open hearts.

People have met creative partners, roommates, friends, and collaborators at these events. Others leave feeling a little more connected than when they arrived. Hosting this one at Saint James Libations feels especially meaningful. It’s a Black owned wine bar that has become a beautiful space for culture, conversation, and community.
