Free outdoor community gathering for all ages in Maria Hernandez Park

The Art Meetup is returning to Maria Hernandez Park for an afternoon of creativity, connection, and community. This free outdoor NYC event brings together families, neighbors, artists, vendors, and curious people for live painting, music, handmade goods, creative workshops, and open space hangouts in the heart of Bushwick.

Expect local vendors, hands on art activities, and free crafts for both adults and kids. You can walk around, talk to artists, try something new, or simply sit in the grass and enjoy one of the most welcoming summer events in Brooklyn.

All ages are welcome. Adults will find plenty of space to create and meet people naturally, and families will find activities that are easy, gentle, and fun. Many people come solo. Many come with friends or family. Everyone is welcome to move at their own pace.

Last time people shared sketchbooks in the grass, exchanged Instagrams, planned collaborations, and made new friends. Kids painted beside adults. Neighbors stopped by to see what was happening. It felt like a real community afternoon in the park.

Vending and Showcasing

Artists and makers are welcome to bring their work and set up directly in the park. No formal application is required. Bring your own table or blanket and share your work with the community.

The Art Meetup runs on community support. Contributions help cover art supplies, craft materials, microphones, speakers, signage, printing, permits, and the simple things that make these gatherings possible for all ages.
