Turbocharge Your Networking
Before the event, we'll share the attendee list with everyone who registers, including each person's name, title, and company (the same information printed on your name tag). Look through it ahead of time, find the people you want to meet, and come ready to connect.
At the event, we'll also go around the room for quick 10-second introductions. Tell everyone who you are and what you're looking for, whether that's a co-founder, an investor, a partner, a new role, or just good conversation. It's the fastest way to make sure the right people find you.
October Recap: Can AI Inventions Be Patented?
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first panel discussion in October. Moderated by Ray Dogum, Chief Editor of Drug Discovery Online, the panel brought together Teige Sheehan (FisherBroyles), Shovon Ashraf (Jones Day), and Christine McCain (Fenwick & West) to tackle one of the most consequential open questions in biotech IP: who owns inventions generated with the help of AI, and can they be patented at all?
The conversation explored how much human contribution U.S. patent law requires for inventorship, when AI-assisted generation of protein sequences, molecules, and therapeutic candidates can support patent protection, and practical ways research teams can document human contributions to protect their IP. The audience brought great questions, and the discussion carried on well into the mixer. Thank you to our moderator and panelists for sharing their time and expertise.
What's Next: Quarterly Panels
Based on the response to our first panel, we've decided to make panel discussions a quarterly feature. Every month, you can count on the networking mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Once every three months, we'll add a panel discussion before the mixer.
Our next panel will be in January 2027, and we have a very exciting topic lined up. Stay tuned for the announcement.
Want to run a future panel?
We want the panels driven by the community. If you have an idea for a topic, come tell us. Better yet, help us organize it: propose the topic, suggest and select speakers, and help secure them. Your expertise is what will keep the panels relevant and bring the leaders in the field to the stage.
