He made his first short film while serving in the Peace Corps in Paraguay in 2000 and went on to earn a Park Fellowship at UNC-Chapel Hill, completing an M.A. in Journalism and Documentary Filmmaking.
Mossman is known for his dramatic, natural-light photography on award-winning documentaries including the Oscar-shortlisted Sundance Audience Award winner "Buck," the Sundance Special Jury Prize-winning "Feels Good Man," and "Bending the Arc."
