The Emergence Team would like to invite you to lock arms with us on Friday, November 6, 2026 for our annual Skill Acquisition Retreat!

This year’s Skill Acquisition Retreat will once again be held at Ignite Performance in Chandler, Arizona and is guaranteed to be a truly one-of-a-kind, all-day event where the most passionate practitioners come together to help each other grow within their craft.

The Skill Acquisition Retreat will pick up where the 2026 Sport Movement Skill Conference (SMSC) left off in bringing practitioners to their personal challenge points where evolution is the only option.

It is in this type of setting where both theory and practice can co-exist to channel the development of each individual’s craft, leading to immediate and positive implications in the field.

Quite frankly, if you empty your cup and put yourself out there by joining us in Arizona for the Skill Acquisition Retreat in 2026, your practice is guaranteed to change as a result!

Specifically, coaches and skill acquisition specialists, WILL learn how to better:

• Understand the contemporary skill acquisition concepts that really matter and why, where, and how they live and breathe in the real world
• Analyze sport movement behavior in context and determine how that analysis can directly influence one’s training and practice design
• Purposefully manipulate constraints to meet the individualized needs and skill set of one’s athletes
• Communicate with and guide athletes towards more skillful movement behavior that transfers to the game

Tentative Event Schedule for November 6, 2026

7:45-9:30am – Hike at South Mountain Hiking and Preserve (Pima Canyon Trailhead, 500 East Pima Canyon Road, Phoenix, AZ 85044)

9:30-10:15am – Head to Ignite Performance in Chandler, AZ

10:15-11:30am – Performing a Deep-diving Performance Analysis led by Shawn of Emergence

11:30am-12pm – Group Breakout: Thought Experiment around Performance Analysis

12-12:45pm – Lunch (catered)

12:45-2pm – Small Group Presentations

2:15-3pm – Active Session: Group Movement Preparation led by Tyler of Emergence

3-4:15pm – Practical Session: Shadowing Javier of Emergence and Ignite

4:15-6pm – Emergent Discussion and Q&A

6:15-? – Social Hour

Event Registration Packages

The Skill Acquisition Retreat 2026: $219 + taxes/fee

Students: If you are currently an undergraduate or master’s student, please reach out to us before registering and we will personally assist you in your registration.

Organization/Team Staff Discounts: For groups of 4 or more individuals, please reach out directly to Shawn Myszka, Shawn@emergentmvmt.com) for special registration rates.

All cancellation & refund requests must be presented via email 30 days prior to the event; they will be considered on a case-by-case basis but are not guaranteed.

In the event of a complete cancellation, all paid registration money will be fully refunded to each participant.
