Explore Indian Folk Art invites participants of all ages and artistic abilities to experience the joy of creating while learning about the cultural heritage, mythology, and symbolism behind some of India's most treasured artistic traditions. Together, we'll explore art as a language of storytelling, identity, community, gratitude, and our connection to nature.
Each workshop features a different folk art tradition, such as Kolam, Warli, Madhubani (Mithila), and Pichwai, and begins with an engaging introduction to its history, folklore, cultural significance, and the communities that have preserved these practices for generations.
Participants will then create their own artwork on a variety of surfaces—including canvas, tote bags, wood, and seasonal projects—using the patterns, colors, and motifs inspired by each tradition. Rather than focusing on perfect replication, the workshops encourage curiosity, play, and personal expression while honoring the spirit of these living art forms.
Whether you're new to art or an experienced maker, this series offers a welcoming space to slow down, explore creativity, and connect with culture through hands-on making.
