Introduction to Photography

Each session is structured to combine technical learning with hands-on practice.

The first 30 minutes of class focus on camera fundamentals, including camera settings, exposure basics, and how to move beyond auto mode. Instruction is practical and accessible, with an emphasis on helping students learn how their own cameras function. Time is built in for questions and clarification to ensure concepts feel approachable rather than intimidating.

The second half of each session centers on guided photography - either portrait or urbanscapes. Students apply what they’ve learned by experimenting with settings, working with light, and photographing in a supportive, low-pressure environment. This hands-on approach allows students to test their cameras in real situations and build confidence through practice.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras, though a limited number of cameras will be available for those without gear. No prior photography experience is required.
