A Night in Sudan: An Immersive Cultural Experience
Explore Sudanese food, music, film, literature, and interactive exhibits while supporting children’s education and mutual aid in Sudan.
Ever been curious about Sudanese culture? The food, the music, the weddings, the stories beyond the headlines? This is your chance.
We’re bringing pieces of Sudan to Chicago for a creative, immersive evening, and we’d love to have you there.
Part pop-up museum, part community gathering, A Night in Sudan invites you to explore rooms filled with cultural exhibits, music, storytelling, and hands-on experiences. Meet the Sudanese artists, organizers, educators, and culture shakers bringing it all together.
Start with a complimentary mocktail and light refreshments, grab your event passport, and follow your curiosity. Collect stamps as you explore the stations, then receive a gift when you complete your passport.
What will you discover?
Take your time with the exhibits. Ask questions. Try something new. You’ll also find opportunities to support participating artists and community initiatives, enter raffles, and win experiences and other prizes.
Why are we doing this?
Despite Sudan experiencing the world's worst humanitarian crisis, our people’s suffering receives far too little attention. That lack of recognition adds another layer of grief as we try to support loved ones and stay connected to home.
We want to humanize ourselves by sharing our lives in our own words: what we love, what makes us laugh, how we celebrate, and what we’re working to preserve. These exhibits hold pieces of our lives, memories, and the communities that shaped us.
Creating this evening is one way we’re trying to reclaim some agency: telling our own stories, bringing people together, and turning that connection into practical support.
Your ticket supports children and families in Sudan.
Funds raised will support a school in Arbaji, Al Gezira State, Sudan, which also functions as a community center. The fundraiser supports children’s educational initiatives and mutual aid for the surrounding community, helping sustain a place where children learn and families gather.
Everyone is welcome. Come solo, bring a friend, or invite someone who loves museums, food, film, and discovering something new.
Get your ticket, share the invitation, and come explore Sudan with us. Every guest helps us bring this gathering to life and support Sudanese led mutual aid.
