In this 7-week course, you'll learn to draw basic human forms and proportion, and move on to drawing people fitted with a variety of fashions, from live (clothed) model and reference. using basic drawing mediums: graphite pencil to start, then sharpie and grayscale marker. We'll move on to colored pencil and art marker.
Our teacher Laura Noble has been teaching this course in various forms for over 13 years, having been on faculty teaching undergraduate fashion illustration in the Fashion Studies department at a prestigious local design school here in Chicago. Now she is offering it to you through her own studio and workshop space, Lemon Wedge Arts. Yay!
This is a course intended for anyone interested in fashion illustration- whether you're a fashion designer or aspiring designer needing to bulk up your drawing skills, a visual creative interested in the art of figurative drawing and illustration, or simply a lifelong learner wanting to try a new variety of drawing class. This class is also great for teens!
This first Beginning Course will focus more on contours, proportions, gesture, and getting basic composition and shading in monochromatic mediums like graphite. Toward the end of the course, color mediums will be introduced, and another section will be offered after this 7-week course (an 8-week course starting after the winter break) that will build on this beginner course. Repeat students can receive a discount for signing up for the second section, if they've taken Section 1.
Hope to see you there!
