About:

"How can you feel nostalgic for a song you’ve never heard before? That’s how it feels when listening to ‘i like you’. The track is a fresh release." - - the limelight chicago

“The debut of alt/indie newcomer, giverupper impresses. J.T. Teichert has exhibited a talent for songwriting and composition. The appeal is catchy melodies, simple yet vibrant progressions, and a knack for being able to produce music with familiarity to what is currently relevant while introducing a unique element.” -- fifteen minutes of fame

giverupper is the saxophone dream pop project of J.T. Teichert. The music is an attempt to “give up” the masks that we wear every day and the barriers that prevent us from creating.

giverupper’s debut ep, shorty, released on 12/20/25. his second ep, give her a purr, released on 7/8/25.

shorty explores infatuation and isolation through the lens of an overthinker. The debut EP keeps things short and sweet, encompassing four tracks under 11 minutes of time. It serves as a reminder that even the smallest ideas may be worth sharing.

give her a purr, features performances by long time friends Nate Lich, Jackson Kidder, and Robin Fey. The EP was J.T.’s attempt to shed the “skin of his twenties” and deals such themes as artistic identity, work/life balance, and anxiety.

It is J.T.’s ultimate goal to “give” music and lift others “up.”
