About This Event

BIOLOGIST SWAMP WALK in the FAKAHATCHEE PRESERVE

Embark on an adventure through the Fakahatchee alongside the Preserve’s expert biologist, to discover the remarkable swamp ecosystem and learn about the wide array of plants and wildlife that inhabit it. This experience offers a unique chance to appreciate nature and deepen your understanding of why protecting this natural habitat matters.

Be ready to get wet as you immerse yourself in the swamp’s stunning scenery. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to explore one of Florida’s most intriguing Preserve found in the southwest Everglades eco system.

The Friends truck transports visitors to the swamp walk site, which is six miles inside the Preserve, with the Biologist accompanying the group.

The swamp walk covers an extensive distance and may be physically challenging, immersing participants deep in the Fakahatchee wilderness. Expect to wade through water for approximately two hours or longer.

IMPORTANT: Participants will navigate a swamp with uneven terrain and obstacles that demand both physical flexibility and stability.

Walking sticks are provided.

Participants should allow for extra time on this swamp walk, as it will not be shortened to accommodate anyone planning to leave the park exactly at 1:30 PM.

Swamp walkers are required to wear long pants and lace-up boots or sneakers – no sandals, waders or open-top boots. A hat and long-sleeved shirt are also recommended. Bring water and snacks, there is no lunch break.

Arrival instructions will be e-mailed the day before the tour.

Participants will meet the Biologist and his assistant at 9:00 AM at the Visitor Center situated on the corner of Janes Scenic Drive and Coastline Drive, Copeland (not Naples).

Price disclosure: Tickets are $150.00 per person plus Eventbrite fees, with the full $150.00 directly supporting the Fakahatchee.

---------------------------------------

CAUTION: The ONLY access to Janes Scenic Drive is Via Route 29 between I-75 and US 41. If you rely on GPS or Google Map it might show other routes to access Janes Scenic drive that were closed a long time ago.

If driving I-75 take Exit 80.
