It's More Complicated Than That: Systems, Intersectionality, and Uneven Impact explores how people and systems make sense of complexity through interpretations, assumptions, policies, and norms, and what can happen when important context is overlooked. Using Kimberlé Crenshaw's framework of intersectionality, participants will examine the limitations of single-axis thinking, consider how systems can produce uneven impact, and explore the early conditions that contribute to layered harm. Through reflection, discussion, and practical application, participants will develop greater awareness of what may be missing from their understanding and how expanding the frame can lead to more thoughtful, equitable decision-making.
