Come meet the team before you commit to anything.
Youth Legacy Boxing is opening the gym in Decatur so families can walk the space, meet the coaches, and see how a session actually runs — no signup, no pressure, no expectation that your kid participates at all.
This is for neurodivergent kids and their families: autistic kids, kids with ADHD, kids with sensory sensitivities, and any kid who does better when they've already seen a place once before being asked to do anything in it.
What happens
Coaches will introduce themselves and talk through how they work with kids who need more structure, more processing time, or more room to opt out. You'll see the gym while it's quiet, so your child knows the layout, the noise level, and where the exits are before their first real session.
If your child wants to try some non-contact boxing — stance, footwork, hitting a pad a few times — coaches will run short demos. Nobody has to. Plenty of kids will spend the whole visit watching, and that's a completely normal way to do this.
There's no sparring and no contact at this event or in our youth sessions.
What we've set up
✔ A quiet area off the floor, open the whole time, no permission needed
✔ Music kept low — [no whistles, buzzers, or air horns]
✔ [Lighting stays steady — no strobes or overheads going off and on]
✔ Caregivers stay with their kids throughout
✔ Come and go whenever — there's no start you'll miss or end you'll disrupt
✔ Watching is participating
What to bring
Nothing. Gloves and wraps are provided if your child wants to try the pads. Comfortable clothes and sneakers if they think they'll move around.
Ask us anything
This is the event to ask the awkward logistical questions — what happens if my kid melts down, can I stay in the room, what if she needs to leave halfway through, will he be grouped with teenagers. Coaches would much rather answer that here than have you guess.
