Lights, camera, invention! Students will become “prop detectives” as they read through a short stage performance and determine which props are needed to bring the story to life. Using their engineering design skills, they’ll plan and build movie-quality props from everyday materials like foam, cardboard, PVC, clay, and more, exploring techniques such as aging, sculpting, papier-mâché, and simple circuitry.
Students will have opportunities to experiment with tools at an age-appropriate level, with younger students using low-risk tools under close supervision. Once everyone has had a chance to contribute, students who want to perform can put on a show featuring their creations.
