About this class:

Celebrate friendship, family, creativity, and the warmth of the season at Friends & Frosting: Friendsgiving Cupcake Decorating. Designed as a Friend & Me or Parent & Me experience, this cozy class invites pairs to decorate together and create lasting memories. Solo students are also warmly welcomed and may complete the class independently.

Join Celebrity Pastry Chef Dawn of Ravy Cakes, LLC for a fun & festive cupcake decorating class!

During this hands-on class, participants will receive guided instruction in essential buttercream piping techniques. Students will learn how to fill, hold, and control a piping bag, work with different decorating tips, apply consistent pressure, and combine colors and textures for a polished finish. Designs will be inspired by the colors and textures of fall and may include pumpkins, autumn florals, rosettes, ruffles, leaves, and other seasonal details.

Each pair will work as a team to decorate six Friendsgiving cupcakes (six cupcakes per team). A solo student will work independently as a one-person team and will also decorate six cupcakes. If team members would like to divide their finished cupcakes, separate take-home packaging will be provided.

This class is welcoming to beginners while still offering enjoyable creative practice for decorators with some experience. Bring a friend, join with a parent or child, or come solo and meet others who enjoy decorating.

At the end of class, every team will leave with a beautiful collection of six autumn-themed cupcakes to share and enjoy.

Come ready to pipe, laugh, and create. Light refreshments & apple cider will be served.

What Students Will Learn

Meet Your Instructor:

Dawn Alston of Ravy Cakes, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, grew up in Northern Virginia where she started baking at the age of six. Dawn holds an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and has competed in many local baking events and in 2018 she competed on Food Network’s Wedding Cake Championship. All The Details:

• Age Level: 13+
• Skill Level: Beginner
• All supplies and tools are provided for use during class.
• We will provide a box for you to take your cupcakes home in
• The class may be a little messy so we recommend bringing an apron.
• If you have long hair, you may want to tie it back.
• Class requires a minimum of 2 teams and there is a maxiumum of 8 teams. In the event of insufficient enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
• Class will run approximately 2.5 hours. Please note that the class is hands-on and may run over or under schedule.

Cancellation Policy:

Changes and cancellations...we know life happens so we try our best to be flexible while being fair to our instructors who purchase supplies and bake for each student. Full refunds or credits are available for cancellations made at least 5 days prior to the class. If you need to cancel after 5 days but at least 48 hours in advance, we can offer you a credit for a future class. We cannot offer any credits for cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled class.
