Gardening Basics: Herbalism

Join us for Gardening Basics: Herbalism, a hands-on morning for anyone curious about growing and working with herbs. This beginner-friendly session covers the fundamentals of starting your own herb patch, from choosing plants to caring for them season after season.

Herbs are a great entry point into regenerative agriculture. They build healthy soil, welcome pollinators, and thrive in small spaces, so you can start with a single pot or a sunny corner. Our team will share what we've learned tending herbs right here in Fremont.

The address is at the LEAF Community Garden (36501 Niles Blvd, Fremont), not the LEAF Urban Farm!

What to Bring

• Closed-toe shoes
• Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty
• A reusable water bottle (we have tap water)
• Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) as needed
• We provide tools, gloves, and guidance—no gardening experience required!

Parking:

• Use the eastern entrance (not Nursery Ave.) to the California Nursery Historic Park, the LEAF Community Garden is on your right side.
• There is ample parking inside this entrance.

Bike parking available at the garden.

Public Transit:

• AC Transit Bus 216 stops right outside the LEAF Community Garden. Take the Niles Blvd & Hillview Dr stop.
