Wildfire Community Workshop: Safer Homes, Resilient Communities (Fullerton)

Join us at the California State University, Fullerton Arboretum for an interactive, in-person community workshop on practical ways to make your home and neighborhood more resilient to wildfire.

Designed for homeowners and residents, the program will introduce essential home-hardening and defensible-space strategies, including ways to reduce vulnerabilities around buildings and limit exposure to wind-driven embers. Case-study examples and community-preparedness guidance will show why coordinated action across a block or neighborhood can make wildfire readiness more effective.

Participants will also have an opportunity to explore the BuildSMART Trailer, examine real-world materials and building examples, and ask questions about measures they can apply at home. Community partners and resource providers will be available to share additional guidance and ways to take action.

Whether you are beginning your wildfire-preparedness journey or building on work already underway, join us for practical learning, demonstrations, and community connection.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify common vulnerabilities around their homes that can increase wildfire risk.
• Recognize practical home-hardening, defensible-space, and fire-resilient material strategies.
• Select realistic actions they can take to strengthen preparedness at home.
• Explain how coordinated neighborhood action can support broader community resilience.

This workshop is hosted in partnership with CSUF, sponsored by the San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy (RMC) Wildfire Prevention Grant Program.
