Dean Kessmann is a Washington DC based artist whose work explores the relationships between abstraction and representation, physical objects and digital information, compression and expansion. Kessmann's exhibition features a series of photographs taken in and around the DC area that pose the question: is realism succumbing to abstraction or is it the other way around? During thoughtful, meandering walks in the city, Kessmann captures quotidian moments that appear untethered from reality, at times enigmatic, and always open to interpretation.
