The program brings together historic postmodern repertory and new work made this season. Pat Catterson stages two Yvonne Rainer works, We Shall Run and Chair Pillow; Dr. Kate March premieres a new piece created with Colgate dancers during her fall residency; and Dr. Hank Bamberger presents a large-scale new work. Performed by Colgate students.
Pat Catterson and the Yvonne Rainer works
Pat Catterson stages two works by Yvonne Rainer, a founding figure of the Judson Dance Theater and one of the most influential choreographers of the last sixty years. We Shall Run (1963) sets a group of performers jogging in shifting formations to Berlioz's Requiem, a work of stark endurance and collective pattern. Chair Pillow (1969) pairs dancers with everyday objects in blunt, repetitive action. Catterson has performed and set Rainer's repertory for decades, and Bristle brings these pieces to the Brehmer stage with Colgate dancers.
University Theater Fall 2026 production, a devised piece, created collaboratively, without a preexistent script. Directed by Simona Giurgea.
