What could El Niño mean for Irvine, and how can you prepare for the winter storm season?
Join the City of Irvine and the Office of Councilmember Betty Martinez Franco for an informative El Niño Preparedness Town Hall on Monday, October 26, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Irvine City Hall.
This free community event will bring together weather experts, emergency responders and City staff to help residents better understand El Niño, what the current seasonal outlook could mean for Irvine and Southern California, and how the City is preparing for potential winter storms.
A guest speaker from the National Weather Service will share the latest information on weather conditions, seasonal outlooks and what Southern California could experience in the months ahead. Residents will also learn the difference between a seasonal climate outlook and a forecast for a specific storm.
Representatives from the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), City of Irvine Office of Emergency Management and Public Works & Sustainability Department will discuss how the City prepares for and responds to heavy rain, flooding, high winds, fallen trees, blocked storm drains and other storm-related impacts.
The town hall will include presentations from participating agencies, followed by a question-and-answer session where attendees can hear directly from experts and City representatives.
Whether you're looking for practical tips to protect your home or simply want to learn more about how Irvine is preparing for the winter storm season, we encourage you to join us!
