About This Event

Narrative change is a huge driver of systemic change; that is why our stories matter. We are SHIFTING the narratives that play into negative food stereotypes and highlighting the beauty of Southern Food Culture.

This event will feature the premiere of the docuseries Food as Resistance along with other short films that are shifting food narratives. Food as Resistance is a blending of black history, nutritional science, and personal narratives that demonstrate how black food is a tool of resistance. This docuseries, created by the Founder and Executive Director of GRITS Inc., and it will feature stories from local Jacksonians and world-renowned Culinarian Historian, Dr. Jessica B. Harris.
