Persian Pumpkin Carving

Halloween Morning Pumpkin Carving

A free, family-friendly pumpkin carving gathering inspired by Persian art and storytelling.

Join us on Saturday, October 31, from 10 AM to noon at Liberty State Park for a morning of pumpkin carving, creativity, and Persian storytelling.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age or experience. The event is especially recommended for parents and children looking to enjoy a Halloween activity together.

What to Expect

We'll begin with a short introduction to pumpkin carving, covering the basics for anyone who hasn't tried it before.

Then, everyone will have time to carve their own pumpkins. Free carving templates inspired by Sassanid Persian art will be provided for anyone who wants to try something different from traditional Halloween designs.

We'll finish the morning with a telling of Kadu Ghelgheleh Zan (The Rolling Pumpkin), a beloved traditional Persian folktale, especially for our younger guests.

What to Bring

• A pumpkin: Please bring your own pumpkin to carve.
• Carving tools: Bring your own pumpkin carving kit or suitable tools.
• Optional supplies: If you're unable to bring a pumpkin or tools, let us know during registration. We can purchase them for you in advance at an additional cost.

Admission and Registration

Admission is completely FREE!

Space is limited to fewer than 20 participants, and advance registration is required for everyone attending, including children.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Adult supervision is required when using sharp carving tools.

Getting There & Carpooling

We encourage carpooling to make transportation easier for everyone, especially those traveling from NYC without a car.

If you can offer a ride or need one, please indicate this during registration. We'll try to connect people traveling from nearby areas, with their permission.
