Intro to Modern Square Dancing

Never square danced before? Perfect! Come give it a try. No experience or partner required.

Ever wondered what square dancing is actually like, but never had a chance to try it?

Maybe you've seen square dancers at a festival, heard the caller at a community event, or just always thought it looked like something you'd probably enjoy if you knew what you were supposed to do. Well, this night is for you.

We're hosting a one-night introduction to square dancing specifically for people who have little or no experience. You don't need to know the calls. You don't need to know the steps. You don't even need to have a partner.

We'll start from the very beginning and get you dancing as quickly as possible. Experienced dancers will be there to help you along, and our caller will guide everyone through the dance one call at a time. Expect a little learning, a little confusion, a lot of laughing, and hopefully a whole lot of fun.

And don't worry about getting everything right. You will mess up. We will mess up. That's part of square dancing. Nobody expects you to walk in knowing what you're doing.

Who is this for?

Anyone who has ever thought:

"I've always wanted to try that."

Bring your partner, your friends, your family, your neighbor, or just yourself. No partner is required and no previous dance experience is necessary.

You also don't need special clothes or fancy shoes. Come comfortable and ready to have a good time.

What's the catch?

There isn't one. This is simply a chance to try something new for one evening and see what you think.

If you love it, fantastic! We're offering follow-up beginner classes for anyone who wants to learn more. If you decide square dancing isn't your thing, that's perfectly fine too. You still got to spend an evening trying something different.

So come give it a shot. You might discover a new hobby, meet some new people, and find out that square dancing is considerably more fun than you expected.
