In-Person REFORMA de las Carolinas 4th Annual Retreat

ABOUT THIS EVENT
The REFORMA de las Carolinas Retreat is a full-day professional development event focused on helping library professionals better serve Latino and Spanish-speaking communities. The 2026 retreat will explore joy as a source of connection, resilience, creativity, and strength within our communities. Through practical sessions, shared experiences, and relationship-building, participants will gain tools and ideas they can apply in their libraries and local communities.

Sessions may highlight:

• Community outreach and engagement
• Spanish-language collections
• Culturally responsive resources
• Language access and bilingual programming
• Partnerships with Latino-serving and community-based organizations
• Joy, resilience, well-being, and belonging
• Leadership and professional growth
• Innovative and inclusive library services

The retreat is open to REFORMA members and nonmembers, including:

• Public, academic, school, and special library workers
• Library science and other students
• Educators and community partners
• Retired library and information professionals
• Individuals interested in equitable and culturally responsive services for Latino and Spanish-speaking communities

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2026 | OPTIONAL PRE-RETREAT ACTIVITY

For anyone arriving in Mount Pleasant on Thursday, November 5, we’re planning an optional activity that evening.

It will be a chance for retreat participants to meet, connect, and spend some time together before Friday’s full-day retreat. The time and location are still being finalized and will be shared with registered participants once confirmed.

ABOUT REFORMA

REFORMA (The National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking) is an affiliate of the American Library Association (ALA) dedicated to advancing equitable library services by promoting Spanish-language collections and resources, advocating for Latino communities, supporting the recruitment of bilingual library professionals, and providing professional development opportunities for library staff. REFORMA de las Carolinas is the regional chapter serving North and South Carolina.

You may join REFORMA before registering for the retreat and receive the $15 member registration rate for our in-persion option once your membership is active. Visit the REFORMA membership page to review membership options and join online. When prompted, select a chapter affiliation, choose REFORMA de las Carolinas.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

• Current REFORMA members: $15 + Eventbrite ticketing fees
• Non-members: $25 + Eventbrite ticketing fees
• Sponsor and Exhibitor: Complimentary registration for designated representatives (promo code required)

Registration includes admission to all retreat activities, refreshments, lunch, and event materials. Lodging and transportation are not included.

Each attendee must complete their own registration, including members, nonmembers, board members, complimentary attendees, sponsor and exhibitor representatives, scholarship recipients, volunteers, and invited guests. There is a limit of one ticket per order.

All paid registrations and Eventbrite ticketing fees are nonrefundable, except when a refund is required by applicable law or Eventbrite policy. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration so your seat can be released. Canceling your registration will not result in a refund.

The deadline to purchase tickets for the REFORMA de las Carolinas Annual Retreat has been extended from October 16 to October 23.

Please note that after October 23, ticket prices may increase, or ticket sales may close entirely with no further opportunity to purchase tickets.

We encourage everyone planning to attend to register before the October 23 deadline to secure their tickets at the best price.

King Suites include one king bed and a pullout sofa bed and can accommodate up to four guests.

The discounted hotels are simply one lodging option. You are welcome to make accommodations that work best for you and your organization, whether that is another hotel or another type of stay in the Mount Pleasant/Charleston area. Staying at the particular hotels mentioned are not required to participate in either the Thursday evening activity or Friday’s retreat.

Sponsorship opportunities range from $250 to $1,000, and exhibitor tables are available for $50.
