Shadow. Sea & Symbol brings together a body of work by artist Chris Jeanguenat that moves fluidly between the romantic and baroque, between land and sea, where nature becomes both subject and storyteller. Of her work, Chris says “My hope is that the viewer will find pieces of their own story within my paintings."
Featuring fanciful mixed media artwork, “Shadow. Sea & Symbol” will be on display in our Newport News Community Gallery from December 5, 2026 -January 15, 2027 with an opening reception & artist talk on December 5, 2026 from 2pm-4pm. Come and hear from the artist herself about her inspirations, artistic process, and more. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments served. RSVP appreciated.
