Calling all birders!

Learn about Florida's amazing scrub habitat and the Florida scrub jays that call it home.

The Florida scrub jay is a threatened species of bird, and it is also Florida's only endemic bird species, meaning that it's the only bird species found nowhere in the world but Florida. Blue Spring State Park is home to a few families of this special bird!

This program is suitable for all ages, but minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What to bring:

• Sun and insect protection
• Water
• Closed-toe shoes that can handle the uneven sandy terrain of the scrub
• Binoculars recommended

Logistics

• Meet at the ranger station, and you'll be directed to the starting point.
• The guided walk will take place along our 0.25-mile Scrub Jay Loop trail.
