Cyanotype Sun Printing Workshop

Discover the beautiful art of cyanotype sun printing in this hands-on workshop! Using sunlight and light-sensitive cyanotype chemicals, you’ll create striking blue-and-white prints from flowers, leaves, and other objects. You’ll learn how light and shadows work together to capture the shapes and delicate details of natural materials.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll start with a pre-sensitized sheet of cyanotype paper to learn the basics of arranging objects, exposing your print, and watching the image develop. Then, you’ll take the process a step further by applying cyanotype chemicals to your own watercolor paper or fabric sheet. Experiment with botanical shapes, shadows, and composition to create unique prints that are completely your own.

Why You’ll Love This Workshop:

• Experiment & Explore – Play with botanical composition, brushwork, layering, and experimental techniques.
• Discover the Magic – Learn about the fascinating science behind the cyanotype chemistry
• Create a Piece of History – Explore the history of this early photographic process while creating your artwork.

Want to make your print extra personal? We’ll have a selection of botanicals and objects available to use during the workshop, but you’re welcome to bring items from home. Our recommendation is small, flat objects such as film negatives, transparencies, pressed botanicals, lace, jewelry, or other objects that create interesting shapes and shadows.
