Beyond the Ballot: The Power of Your Voice

Beyond the Ballot: The Power of Your Voice is a great opportunity for your voice to be heard.

About the Event

Beyond the Ballot: The Power of Your Voice is a nonpartisan civic engagement and voter education panel designed to empower students and community members with the knowledge and resources needed to become informed and active participants in the democratic process. The event will feature a panel of elected officials, including state senators and delegates, who will share their perspectives on current political issues, the legislative process, and how government decisions impact students and local communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from these leaders, ask questions, engage in meaningful discussions, and gain a better understanding of how their voices can influence public policy and community change.

In addition to the panel discussion, the event will focus on voter education and participation by providing information about voter registration, the upcoming election, ballot amendments, mail-in voting, and available voting resources. Attendees will learn about the importance of understanding their ballots, researching candidates and policies, and exercising their voting rights. By bringing elected officials and community members together in an open, educational environment, Beyond the Ballot: The Power of Your Voice aims to bridge the gap between government and the people it serves. Ultimately, this event seeks to encourage civic responsibility, promote informed decision-making, and remind attendees that their voices matter not only at the ballot box but also in the conversations, decisions, and policies that shape their everyday lives.

This event is in collaboration with Virginia State University Student Government Association, Virginia Commonwealth University Student Government Association, Virginia Commonwealth University Votes, and Virginia Union University NAACP
