Minnesota Compass is all about bringing together local leaders, organizations, and residents to chat and make sense of social, economic, and environmental data that impacts well-being in your area.
At the Southern Roadshow, you'll get a detailed regional dashboard and trends presentation focusing on quality-of-life topics like workforce, housing, health, and economic conditions specific to the Southern region. You'll also have the opportunity to share how Compass can better serve your region, network with local leaders, and participate in a conversation guided by our partner Minnesota: Land of Neighbors.
The event is happening on October 27, 2026 at 9:00 AM at Quarry Hills Nature Center in Rochester. Best part? It’s free and includes a meal!
Information presented at the Roadshow will be representative of all areas in the Southern Minnesota Region, which includes the following Tribal Nations and counties:

Minnesota Compass was developed when leaders from across Minnesota voiced a desire to have credible, easy-to-access data about their communities. Wilder Research worked with advisors representing business, government, nonprofit, and philanthropy to create Minnesota Compass as a statewide resource for reliable information.
At Minnesota Compass, we compile data and information from reliable sources and make it easy to understand. We track trends and measure progress on quality-of-life measures that are chosen and developed by community advisors. And we help analyze and interpret data so policymakers and nonprofit, business, and community leaders can make informed decisions to benefit their communities.
Minnesota Compass is a project of Wilder Research.
A group of local and statewide organizations has launched a new Minnesota initiative called Minnesota: Land of Neighbors. The idea is simple: many Minnesotans are tired of division and want healthier ways to listen, connect, and work together across differences. They want to be neighbors who pull together locally and beyond.
This initiative includes structured, engaging conversations taking place across the state—including at this Roadshow stop! These conversations will lead to efforts to improve the sense of being neighbors to one another.
