Space Coast Harvest: Strawberries, Onions, + Garlic!

Join local gardener Jenn from Space Coast Harvest for a Florida-specific seminar all about three favorite cool-season crops: strawberries, bulbing onions, and garlic!

These crops can grow beautifully in Florida, but getting the timing and planting material right makes all the difference. We'll cover how Florida's mild winters change the way we grow each crop, what to plant, when to plant it, and how to care for your plants through harvest.

This event will take place in an outdoor covered pavilion, the Learning Center!

What you'll learn:

• Florida's cool-season growing basics + why timing matters
• Strawberry plugs vs. bare-root plants + choosing varieties for Florida
• How to plant, fertilize, and care for strawberries through the season
• Growing bulbing onions in Florida + why choosing the right day-length variety matters
• Starting onions from seed vs. sets or transplants
• Choosing garlic for Florida + how and why to pre-chill it before planting
• Planting, fertilizing, harvesting + curing onions and garlic
• Common mistakes that can prevent these crops from producing well in Florida

What you'll take home:
