Most of us can describe our obligations in detail and struggle to describe our joy.
We know what our calendars demand. We are far less practiced at naming what we actually want our days to feel like.
In this experiential session, we will use photography and memoir as technologies of seeing—two ways of stepping outside our lives long enough to look at them clearly. Not to document what we're doing, but to notice what we're centering, what we're avoiding, and what we've stopped imagining is available to us.
Together we will explore what it means to be a character in your own life rather than a manager of everyone else's. We'll look at the difference between self-care as maintenance and joy as design—and why reclaiming time for yourself so often feels like something you have to earn.
This is a teaching and discussion-based gathering. We will move through practices for seeing, then talk honestly about what surfaces: what you want to change about how you view your life, and what conditions would let you live differently without forcing or disciplining yourself into it.
Please bring something to write with. You'll want to capture what comes up.
This is not about adding another practice to an already full life. It is about noticing what your life is already telling you, and discovering where ease—not effort—might be the way forward.
What we see, we can reimagine. What we reimagine, we can begin to live.
