Celebrate Earth Month, a community repair and reuse event designed to help Seattle residents keep everyday items out of the waste stream.
Guests can bring one portable broken or damaged item and sit alongside volunteer repairers, makers, and skilled community members while exploring whether it can be repaired.
Repair stations may include:
The goal is not simply to hand over an item and wait. Whenever practical, volunteers will explain what went wrong, demonstrate the repair process, and share skills guests can use again.
The event also includes a Swap Corner, where attendees can bring clean, usable items they no longer need and exchange them for something another neighbor has contributed.
Additional experiences include:
Repair assistance is provided free of charge. Successful repair cannot be guaranteed, and some items may be declined if they require specialized parts, create a safety risk, or cannot be responsibly handled within the event environment.
Guests meet volunteer repairers and begin troubleshooting, mending, or basic repairs.
Short demonstration covering simple maintenance, visible mending, and extending product life.
Repair work continues while guests browse approved swap items and visit the sustainability showcase.
Brief practical session on caring for products, repairing before replacing, and making more durable purchasing decisions.
Last scheduled repair assessments and final Swap Corner browsing.
Repaired items, before-and-after stories, community photos, and resource pickup.
