Come SYP With Us™: Saint Vincent & the Grenadines Independence Celebration

Come SYP With Us™ as we gather to celebrate Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ independence and honor the cultural connections that reach across the diaspora.

Hosted by Adelis, Founder & Cultural Experience Curator of Come SYP With Us™, this gathering carries a personal connection: Adelis is Garífuna, and Saint Vincent—known as Yurumein—is the ancestral homeland of the Garífuna people.

October 27 marks Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ independence from Britain in 1979. Together, we’re making space to celebrate Vincentian identity, share the connection to Garífuna heritage and meet through conversation and culture.

Whether you’re Vincentian, Garífuna, part of the wider Caribbean diaspora or simply curious to learn, you’re welcome at the table.

THE EVENING

Join us at Zanzi Bar Cuisine & Lounge for a social gathering centered on cultural connection. Enjoy the venue’s Afro-Caribbean dining setting, meet fellow guests and celebrate a meaningful date with Come SYP With Us™.

Food and beverages are purchased separately, Happy hour also available.

A NOTE ON THE HISTORY

Vincentian Independence Day and Garífuna Settlement Day are distinct observances. This October 27 gathering celebrates Vincentian independence. It also opens a conversation about our shared history as we approach Garífuna Settlement Day in Belize on November 19.
