That's the vision behind Reuse Commons South, and we want your ideas to help shape what it could become!
Join People's Economy Lab for a special in-person Lunch Lab and community workshop exploring the possibilities of reuse, repair, sharing, and building a stronger local economy.
Thursday, November 5th | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
Beacon Business Alliance Offices
1607 S Forest St, Seattle, WA 98144
Free event • Free lunch provided • All are welcome!
We'll bring community members together for an engaging conversation about how reuse, repair, and sharing can help us save money, reduce waste, support neighborhood businesses, and create new economic opportunities.
Connect with Moji Igun, founder of Blue Daisi Consulting, and other circular economy practitioners to explore the possibilities for building a more sustainable, equitable, and community-centered reuse economy.
You'll also have the opportunity to:
Explore plans for Reuse Commons South, a proposed community hub for secondhand goods, repair services, shared resources, classes, and community activities.
Participate in fun, hands-on reuse activities led by MADE Space Seattle.
Share your ideas about what services, programs, and resources would be most valuable to South Seattle communities.
Enjoy a free lunch and connect with neighbors, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and local organizations.
Reuse Commons is a growing Seattle initiative to create community destinations for reuse, repair, sharing, education, and local enterprise.
The initiative was spearheaded by Seattle REconomy and a coalition of community organizations and public partners. Furniture Repair Bank is leading efforts to develop Reuse Commons South, with a vision for a welcoming space that brings together reuse businesses, community activities, and practical services.
But what should Reuse Commons South actually look like? What services would you use? What would make it accessible, welcoming, and useful to your family or community?
This event is part of a broader community engagement process to gather feedback that will help inform its development.
Your experiences, ideas, and priorities are essential to that process.
South Seattle has long been home to vibrant Black, Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and other communities of color whose creativity, resourcefulness, and traditions of sharing and mutual support have helped shape our neighborhoods.
As plans for Reuse Commons South move forward, we want to ensure these communities are centered in the conversation and that the space reflects their needs, cultures, experiences, and aspirations.
We especially encourage BIPOC residents, small business owners, artists, makers, community organizers, families, and other South Seattle community members to participate. Everyone is welcome!
When: Thursday, November 5th, 2026 | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM

People's Economy Lab is supporting community engagement for Reuse Commons South in collaboration with Start Consulting Group and Blue Daisi Consulting, helping ensure that South Seattle communities have meaningful opportunities to inform the project's development.
