Learn to sew a pair of pajama shorts with an elastic waistband and gain enough knowledge to go home and make them on your own. You'll learn how to construct shorts and also learn to finish seams, sew elastic, hem by machine, and read a commercial pattern. We'll discuss additions such as pockets, sizing, and common fitting issues such as shortening/lengthening, full or straight hip, full tummy, flat or full seat, swayback, etc., as time allows. You'll be able to easily translate what you've learned in this class into sewing pants, sweatpants, and shorts with fabric of your choice for children and adults.
Student prerequisites: Basic familiarity with using a sewing machine, including threading the sewing machine, winding and installing a bobbin, sewing a straight seam, backstitching at the beginning and end of a seam, changing a needle, etc.)
Student supplies: All supplies, including fabric and equipment included.
About the instructors, Karen & Jen: Karen has been sewing and quilting for over 40 years and has sewn garments, home decor, and quilts. Jen has also been sewing for years, making simple garments, quilts, bags, pillows, and accessories from patterns or reconstructing what she sees. She enjoys sharing what she's learned to help others build confidence in their skills in a supportive, encouraging environment.
