Grief holds emotions, memories, and experiences that can sometimes be difficult to express in words. Through color, shape, texture, and symbolism, painting can offer another way to give those feelings a place and form.
During this two-hour art and grief workshop led by thanatologist, grief specialist, Ligia Houben, participants will explore how grief can be expressed on art. Participants will create on a small canvas a personal painting inspired by how they feel. Gentle reflection, meaningful prompts, and guidance will help each person explore whAt they feel inside. The painting instructor, a painter herself will guide you on how to express your emotions through art.
This workshop is open to anyone grieving any type of loss. No painting experience is necessary. This is not about artistic ability or creating a perfect picture. Each painting will be as unique as the person and the loss it represents.
Participants will paint at their own pace in a caring, compassionate, and respectful environment.
Space is limited to preserve the intimate nature of the experience
