Presented by Walker West Music Academy, the Rondo Community Music Series honors the rich artistic legacy and resilience of Saint Paul’s historic Rondo neighborhood. In 1956, I-94 construction displaced over 600 African American families, interrupting a thriving community that nurtured legendary talents like Gordon Parks and August Wilson. Running from October through May, this eight-part series features Walker West teaching artists performing powerful works rooted in the African American experience across 8 performances and 2 panel discussions—preserving, promoting, and celebrating Rondo’s vibrant culture.
