Tear it up and put it back together in a whole new way. In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore the playful, expressive world of torn paper abstraction, no art background required.
We'll begin by looking at several sample abstract works and talking through the basics of composition, texture, and color theory: how colors play off one another, what creates balance and tension, and how a few simple choices can change the mood of a piece. Then it's your turn. Using colored cardstock, vintage papers, and an assortment of ephemera, you'll tear, layer, and arrange your way to an original abstract design, guided by a few prompts and plenty of room to follow your own instincts.
All supplies are provided, and you'll leave with a finished piece of your own. Beginners are welcome, and so is anyone who just wants an evening of creative play.
