Colorado Senate Bill 25-003 (SB-003) established new firearm safety training requirements for individuals purchasing certain semiautomatic gas-operated firearms in Colorado.
Beginning August 1, 2026, most purchasers of covered firearms must successfully complete a state-approved Firearm Safety Course before purchasing an eligible firearm.
This course is designed to satisfy Colorado's training requirements while providing students with a strong foundation in firearm safety, responsible firearm ownership, and applicable Colorado laws.
During this comprehensive two-day course, students will receive instruction on:
Students will also complete the state-required written examination as part of the course.
This course is intended for individuals who plan to purchase a covered semiautomatic gas-operated firearm under Colorado law. Upon successful completion, eligible students will receive the documentation necessary to apply for a Colorado Firearm Safety Eligibility Card through their local sheriff's office.
Our goal is not only to help you meet Colorado's legal requirements but also to prepare you to become a safe, knowledgeable, and responsible firearm owner. Our experienced instructors provide practical, hands-on classroom instruction in a professional, welcoming environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and build confidence.
This course is not a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP/CCW) class. If you wish to obtain a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit, you must complete a separate CHP training course that meets the requirements of Colorado law.
