Rabbit Hide Tanning

Learn to tan small hides and go home with your own project. Students will learn how to prepare, tan, and preserve rabbit hides through the art of hide tanning. Please note, we gather rabbit hides from local farms and individuals that raise livestock for meat. These hides would have otherwise been thrown away. We are teaching this class to persue our journey of educating on using all parts of the animal. There is no official end time for this class, you go home when your project is done! This may be before or after our advertised ending time.

REQUIRED GEAR:

• Notebook and Pen
• Dressed for weather, with clothing you do not mind getting dirty or wet.
• Water, lunch, and snacks.
• All class materials are provided and included in yout ticket cost.

Hide tanning is the art of making leather. We do not use any chemicals, only natural and organic materials and lots of hard work! The material we teach in this class can also be applied to other species as well. Each student will go home with what they made in class.
