Spanish Cinema Now + 2026 in Orlando

We welcome its second edition in Orlando, co-presented by the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain, the Honorary Consulate of Spain in Orlando, and UCF Modern Languages!

"Spanish Cinema Now" is a touring film series that showcases contemporary Spanish films to audiences in the US, co-presented by the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain and the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Central Florida. The series presents a diverse range of films from both established and emerging Spanish filmmakers, highlighting the current talent and different styles within the country's cinema. Known for featuring award-winning films, such as those recognized at the Goya Awards, it is coming to Orlando for a second time! All screenings will be in original version (Spanish) with English subtitles. Do not miss this opportunity! RSVP required!

For the first three screenings, we will be meeting at the University for Central Florida, Classroom Building II, room 204. Free parking (with code provided at the screening) in Garage H (please, do not park in employee-reserved spots)

• La niña de la cabra / Goat girl (Directed by Ana Asensio, 2026, 95 minutes). Screening on Saturday, October 17th. Doors open at 6pm. Screening begins at 6:30.
• La guitarra flamenca de Yerái Cortés / The flamenco guitar of Yerái Cortés (Directed by C. Tangana, 2024, 95 minutes). Screening on Saturday, November 7th. Doors open at 6pm. Screening begins at 6:30pm.
• Daniela Forever (Directed by Nacho Vigalondo, 2024, 113 minutes). Screening on Saturday, November 21st. Doors open at 6pm. Screening begins at 6:30.
• Sorda / Deaf (Directed by Eva Libertad, 2025, 100 minutes). Screening on Saturday, December 5th. Location: TBA! Stay tuned!

Nicolas struggles to cope with the sudden and tragic death of his girlfriend, Daniela. Devastated by grief, Nicolas decides to participate in a clinical sleep trial for a new drug that allows users to experience and control lucid dreams. Through these dreams, Nicolas is able to reconstruct his life with Daniela, effectively “reviving” her in a perfect, simulated reality. However, as he spends more time in this idealized dream world, he becomes obsessed with the fantasy, and the boundaries between his memories and his subconscious begin to blur.
