Join us on November 8 for Creating from the Soul: Story & Song with Javier Mendoza (aka Hobo Cane).
In a casual, interview-style conversation led by Dr. Tom Wagner, resilience researcher and therapist for 30+ years, St. Louis–rooted singer-songwriter and storyteller Javier Mendoza (aka Hobo Cane) will share stories and original songs from his 25-year journey as an independent artist.
Together, Mendoza and Dr. Wagner will explore creativity, cultural identity, vulnerability, hope, healing, and human connection — with opportunities for guests to ask questions and become part of the conversation.
Sunday Morning Café events are like “mini retreats,” featuring live music, a thoughtful, research-informed talk, guided discussions, and refreshments.
It's a place for adults to experience real belonging in our fractured culture through practical tools and inspiration, based on the premise that what is deepest within us is most universal between us.
This is a casual, welcoming space, whether you come with friends or on your own. You don't need to know anyone or prepare anything. Just show up as you are.
🕒 Date & Time: Sunday, November 8th, 3-6 PM CST
Please note: The main event begins at 4:00, but the doors will open at 3:00 to enjoy appetizers and drinks beforehand. We’d love for you to join us then!

"For so many of us, our brains are constantly on overdrive, overstimulated by the demands of our daily lives, text messages, emails, and alerts popping up on our phones.
What makes Dr. Wagner‘s event so wonderful is that it provides an opportunity to unplug from all of that and reflect deeply and meaningfully on what is actually important and what brings us a sense of purpose and fulfillment. You can look forward to an afternoon of reflection, music, laughter, and connection."
– Dr. Tim Bono, author of Happiness 201: Simple Secrets to Smart Living and Wellbeing, and popular “Science of Happiness” professor at Washington University
