Receiving and Celebrating the New Liturgy of the Hours

Receiving and Celebrating the New Liturgy of the Hours

An Archdiocesan Conference on the New English Translation of the Divine Office

The Liturgy of the Hours is the Church’s daily prayer, sanctifying the day and drawing the whole Church—clergy and faithful alike—more deeply into the rhythm of the liturgical year. With the forthcoming new English translation, the Church is given a renewed opportunity to receive, teach, and celebrate this prayer more fully in parish and communal life.

As the Church prepares to receive this revised translation, the Archdiocese of New York will host a day of reflection and practical formation on the Liturgy of the Hours.

Join clergy, parish musicians, pastoral leaders, and all who are interested in learning more about the Liturgy of the Hours and how it may be introduced more fully into parish life. This conference will explore both the structure of the Hours and their pastoral celebration, with particular attention to music, hymnody, and the Church’s most solemn days.

Presentations will include:

The New Liturgy of the Hours: What Is Changing and Why It Matters - Rev. Matthew S. Ernest, S.T.D.

Introducing the Liturgy of the Hours into Parish Life - Christopher Ferraro

The New Hymns of the Liturgy of the Hours - Dr. Conner McCain

The Liturgy of the Hours during the Sacred Triduum (Tenebrae) - Rev. Alessandro da Luz, S.T.D.

The Liturgy of the Hours as a Pattern of Daily Prayer for the Lay Faithful - Diana Pizarro

Whether you are new to the Hours or already praying them regularly, this conference offers an opportunity to deepen understanding and explore practical ways this prayer can be introduced and celebrated more fully in parish life.

Lunch is included, along with time for discussion and shared prayer.
