They Who Are Not There - The Veil

THEY WHO ARE NOT THERE  present THE VEIL

Halloween Night, 1988

The gates of Ravenhurst have closed.

But some things were never meant to stay behind them.

Roots don’t stop at stone walls.

Ivy doesn’t stop at iron gates.

Stories don’t end where we hope they will.

On Halloween night they say the veil between worlds is at its thinnest.

Porch lights glow.

Children wander from house to house.

Neighbors gather beneath the autumn trees.

And somewhere beyond the hill, old stories begin finding their way home along with the roots and rot.
