💃🏾🥁 We’re dancing for Congo! Join us for an evening of Afrobeats, live drumming, musicians, and traditional African dance as we celebrate Congo Week hosted by @Congofriends and stand in solidarity with the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
📅 Friday, October 23, 2026⏰ 7 PM until📍 The Palace Restaurant and Lounge, 200 Graces Way
Why We Dance for Congo:
Mining in the Congo has been linked to human rights abuses, the exploitation of its people and land, and environmental harm. Meanwhile, the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence, data centers, and the devices we use every day is increasing demand for energy, infrastructure, and minerals that power our digital world. We must confront the human and environmental costs behind our big tech and consumption.
But Congo is more than its struggles and its resources. Congo is its people, its cultures, its creativity, its music, its dance, and its enduring spirit.
Across the African continent and throughout the Diaspora, rhythm and movement have carried our histories, strengthened our communities, and sustained our resistance. We dance to celebrate life, honor our ancestors, affirm our humanity, and stand together in the pursuit of justice and liberation.
