HALLOWEEN PARTY on October 31, 2026, from 6-8 PM
During the Halloween Party meet the artists, explore the exhibition, and experience Reyes’ Haunt Installation, if you dare. Costumes are welcome but entirely optional. There will be surprises. You have been warned.
Eastern Projects Gallery proudly presents Macabre, a wicked group exhibition featuring 100 artists, curated by Los Angeles artist Albert Reyes.
Nineteen years ago, Reyes organized a large group exhibition at Bent Gallery on Mission Street in South Pasadena. Now, he brings the spirit of that exhibition back to Los Angeles with Macabre; a celebration of October, Halloween, and the artists who have influenced, inspired, and shaped his own creative practice.
Featuring 100 artists, most from Southern California, Macabre explores an unruly range of mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, and installation. At the center of the exhibition will be a Haunt Installation created by Reyes, inspired by his deadly love of haunted houses. The installation extends the exhibition beyond the traditional gallery experience, transforming the space into something mysterious, playful, and unsettling. The artists participating in the exhibition represent a community of creative voices that have left their mark on Reyes’ work. Some inspiring him, and, in his words, “some of them I straight rip off.”
For Reyes, Macabre is less about defining what Halloween means and more about celebrating what October brings out in artists: the strange, the dark, the humorous, the personal, and the unexpected. With 100 artists coming together under one roof, the exhibition is a distinctly Southern California celebration of art, community, and the macabre.
